Peter Reich and Associates is a custom fabricator in Philadelphia which recently completed a mirror finish bar for a major Atlantic City Casino.
In July, Peter Reich contacted us to assist with a stainless steel mirror finish project (see photo above). Lehigh Valley worked with the fabricator and developed a two staged polishing plan.
Process 1 - Flat surfaces.
Using a Flex Burnisher LPR1503VR, a series of belts starting with 80 grit
and progressing to 2000 grit were employed. As a final step two Wendt Cotton Flap Brushes were used first with white compound and then with blue to achieve the mirror finish.

Process 2 - Welded Joints.
Using the Flex L3406 VRG variable speed angle grinder (which allows for low RPM finishing which is critical for stainless), a series of unitized wheels were used on the welds moving from course through very fine.
Finally, the welds were brought up to the mirror finish by using the Wendt Felt Polishing flap disc with the white and then blue compound.
